{"id":2285,"date":"2021-03-07T13:15:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-07T13:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/?p=2285"},"modified":"2022-01-31T13:19:30","modified_gmt":"2022-01-31T13:19:30","slug":"2020-21-beginners-week-28","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/2021\/03\/07\/2020-21-beginners-week-28\/","title":{"rendered":"2020-21 Beginners &#8211; Week 28"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hi all!<br>Such great photos from the Belgravia Wander Art run! \u00a0You all continue to impress us as you get it done every week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This week, we are starting some destination runs. \u00a0Although we still need to be in pairs, we would like to see if we can coordinate a bit more and do some pairs together &#8211; with one coach and 3 runners or maybe 2 coaches and 4 runners, with the pairs running close enough to see but not close enough to hear. \u00a0This will require everyone to group based on pace. \u00a0This may not work, depending on everyone\u2019s availability, but let\u2019s give it a shot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For this week, we are running 9 miles to Canary Wharf. \u00a0There are a couple of you (Devyani, Trenita, Tessa) who I believe have run about 6 miles. \u00a0I don\u2019t want you guys to try this full 9 mile run yet, but I would love for you to be a part of it. \u00a0If you are willing and able, you could join us very close to the Angel tube station &#8211; we practically run right by it &#8211; and that would give you just under 6 miles from there to Canary. \u00a0We can give you the approximate time to meet us if you can do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019d like to start getting you guys back on a Thursday schedule anyway since we just have a few weeks (YAY!) until we can run basically together again. \u00a0In an ideal world, this is what I\u2019d like to have for Thursday:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">8:30 start &#8211; Tammy and Mariyam with Trenita meeting this group at Angel<br>9:00 start &#8211; Darlene and Corisha with Devyani meeting this group at Angel<br>9:20 start &#8211; Joanna, Farhana, Sue, Natasha, Heloisa with Tessa meeting this group at Angel<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then we will all end up at Canary at approximately the same time, give or take, and we can celebrate together but apart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please let me know ASAP if you cannot do the run this Thursday at those times &#8211; we will determine who can\/can\u2019t and figure out how to make it work for you for another day\/time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Half &#8211; Thursday 29 April<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mark your calendars for Thursday 29 April &#8211; this is our official race day, rain or shine. \u00a0But here\u2019s the thing, I want\u00a0<strong>ALL OF YOU<\/strong>\u00a0to mark your calendars, take the day off of work, get babysitters,\u00a0<strong>WHATEVER IT TAKES<\/strong>\u00a0for that day. \u00a0Act like it is truly the race day. \u00a0Even if you think you won\u2019t be running the full race, we will figure out ways for some of you to run (or walk, or run\/walk) a shorter distance &#8211; whatever is the right distance for you. \u00a0There are several places along the route where people can join in. \u00a0<strong>And I do mean ALL of you &#8211; even you, Ash, for whatever works for you at the time, boot or not. \u00a0And Wunmi &#8211; where are you?!?! \u00a0We miss you! \u00a0We want you out there with us &#8211; whatever that means for you!!\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0So seriously &#8211; I need everyone to make your arrangements now &#8211; act like you are going to be out of town for the day and get your back up\/vacation day\/whatever! \u00a0This is your day &#8211; the time to celebrate all of you! \u00a0OK, lecture over\u2026 for now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Route This Week<\/strong><br>RunGo: \u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/routes.rungoapp.com\/route\/mLJsXpZAkm\">https:\/\/routes.rungoapp.com\/route\/mLJsXpZAkm<\/a><br>OK \u2013 for the run, we will bring gels, and for you &#8211; don\u2019t forget:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li class=\"\">eat something before the run<\/li><li class=\"\">bring water<\/li><li class=\"\">bring your Oyster\/contactless card<\/li><li class=\"\">bring a credit card in case breakfast burritos are available&#8230;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Section One \u2013 Canal to the Wall<\/span><br>Run along St. John&#8217;s Wood Terrace taking a right on Charlbert Street to join the canal in Regents Park at the Charlbert Street entrance. Run along the canal for approximately 3 miles until the canal pathway ends at the famous \u201cWall.\u201d<br><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Section Two \u2013 Angel Roads<\/span><br>We need to run through the Angel neighbourhood until we can\u00a0re-enter the canal path. At the wall follow the ramp up to Muriel Street. (This is a good place to wait for your pace group.) Take a right and then an almost immediate left up a path that winds between the apartment buildings. See the picture below for the entrance to the path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" src=\"https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/09\/CanaryPic1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1616\" srcset=\"https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/09\/CanaryPic1.jpg 240w, https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/09\/CanaryPic1-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keep going straight on the path and it will become Maygood Street. When you get to the intersection with a main road (Barnsbury Road) turn right. Run until you make the second left onto Chapel Market. (There is a metal archway saying Chapel Market and a zebra crossing at the intersection.) Follow Chapel Market until the end. (NB:\u00a0 There is a public Ladies Room at the end of White Conduit Street, which intersects with Chapel Market about midway.) Turn right at Liverpool Street to the major road Upper Street. Cross Upper Street and turn left.\u00a0<strong>(NB:\u00a0 Angel Tube Station is to the right if you are joining from here.)<\/strong>\u00a0 Make your first right at Duncan Street and follow until the end. The entrance to the canal path will be directly in front of you. Go straight along the canal (NOT a sharp right turn.)<br><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Section Three \u2013 Canal to Limehouse Basin<\/span><br>We run for about 4 miles following the canal path past Victoria Park to the Limehouse Basin. At the Limehouse Gallery and Bronze Age shop turn right. Run along the water until you reach the second metal foot-bridge leading to a park. Cross the bridge and run through the park. After the park, you\u2019ll run straight, under an arch and the water will be on your right. Run with the water on your right until you see the long flight of steps next to Royal China \u2013 see picture. You\u2019re almost there! Only a third of a mile remaining!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/09\/CanaryPic4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1619\" srcset=\"https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/09\/CanaryPic4.jpg 320w, https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/09\/CanaryPic4-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Run up the steps and straight ahead, through the small park to India Drive and then veer slightly right along Cabot Square. You\u2019re heading for the big skyscraper building in front of you. Stop when you see the sign for the Canary Wharf DLR Station at the \u2018mall\u2019 entrance on the South Colonnade. After grabbing a coffee, or maybe a breakfast burrito (if they are open), we\u2019ll head to the Canary Wharf Tube station [Jubilee Line] and tube it home to SJW.
