{"id":1834,"date":"2017-02-28T17:01:49","date_gmt":"2017-02-28T17:01:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/?p=1834"},"modified":"2017-12-02T17:06:14","modified_gmt":"2017-12-02T17:06:14","slug":"2016-17-beginners-week-27","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/2017\/02\/28\/2016-17-beginners-week-27\/","title":{"rendered":"2016-17 Beginners Week 27"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi everyone!<\/p>\n<div class=\"\">I am looking forward to seeing your smiling faces tomorrow morning for our Canary Wharf run. \u00a0It\u2019s going to be great!<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">A quick note &#8211; you probably saw the request Jane sent out about seating at Sunday\u2019s post-race dinner. \u00a0Just so you know, the beginners will all be seated together with the coaches. \u00a0The email goes to everyone going on the trip automatically &#8211; I just wanted to make sure you all knew the drill.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">Before we begin our run, there will be some filming for the race video that should take just 5 minutes. \u00a0I believe this is with all of the runners who happen to be running tomorrow, not just the beginners.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">OK &#8211; for the run, don\u2019t forget:<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\n<ul class=\"\">\n<li class=\"\">eat something before the run<\/li>\n<li class=\"\">bring water<\/li>\n<li class=\"\">bring a gel if you have one<\/li>\n<li class=\"\">bring your Oyster card<\/li>\n<li class=\"\">bring money\/credit card for margaritas and breakfast burritos!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">If there are any gels left (which I assume there are), we will bring them in case you haven\u2019t had a chance to get your own yet.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">As with last week\u2019s run, we will split into pace groups at the start but the groups will be fluid &#8211; if you feel like you want to slow down, there will be a group just behind. \u00a0Also, note that this run is a run to Canary regardless of the time. \u00a0It is an estimated 120 minutes but if you get there a bit sooner or a bit later, that is OK. \u00a0Our training is now more about the distance, not the time, and the time is just a guideline. \u00a0We will take our gels about 70-80 minutes into the run, roughly around the Victoria Park area. \u00a0And we will see if we can take them while continuing to run&#8230;<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">A quick note about the route &#8211; there is work happening along the canal towards Canary so we will have to get off and get back on. \u00a0It\u2019s pretty straightforward, I just wanted you to be aware.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><b class=\"\">DETOUR<\/b><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\n<div class=\"\">Exit the canal at Camden Road, which is where the canal is now blocked. Turn left on Camden High Street and then make your first right. On the map, this is Castlehaven Road which becomes Harley Road but it is not well marked on the street. Turn right on Kentish Town Road. You can reenter the canal at the Kentish Town Rd bridge. There is a small unmarked entrance to return to the canal along the construction boards.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><b class=\"\">Canary Wharf route<\/b><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><u class=\"\">Section One \u2013 Canal to the Wall<\/u><br class=\"\" \/>The route starts out as the Wall.\u00a0 Run along Prince Albert Road to join the canal at Charlbert Street.\u00a0 Run along the canal for approximately 3 miles until the canal pathway ends at the famous \u201cWall.\u201d \u00a0[with the detour above]<br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/><u class=\"\">Section Two \u2013 Angel Roads<\/u><br class=\"\" \/>We need to run through the Angel neighbourhood until we can re-enter the canal path. \u00a0 At the wall follow the ramp up to Muriel Street. \u00a0Take a right and then an almost immediate left up a path that winds between the apartment buildings.\u00a0 See the picture below for the entrance to the path.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1559\" src=\"https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/03\/unknown-11.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/03\/unknown-11.jpg 240w, https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/03\/unknown-11-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<p>Keep going straight on the path and it will become Maygood Street.\u00a0 When you get to the intersection of a main road (Barnsbury Road) turn right.\u00a0 Run until you make the second left onto Chapel Market. \u00a0(There is a metal archway saying Chapel Market and a zebra crossing at the intersection.) \u00a0Follow Chapel Market until the end. \u00a0(NB: \u00a0There is a public Ladies Room at the end of White Conduit Street, which intersects with Chapel Market about midway.) \u00a0Turn right at Liverpool Street to the major road Upper Street.\u00a0 Cross Upper Street and turn left. \u00a0(NB: \u00a0Angel Tube Station is to your right if you are going home from here.) \u00a0Make your first right at Duncan Street and follow until the end.\u00a0 The entrance to the canal path will be directly in front of you.\u00a0 Go straight along the canal (NOT a sharp right turn.)<\/p>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<p><u class=\"\">Section Three \u2013 Canal to Limehouse Basin<\/u><br class=\"\" \/>We run for about 4 miles following the canal path past Victoria Park to the Limehouse Basin.\u00a0 We exit the canal path at the wire looking bridge \u2013 see picture below \u2013 and take the brown brick steps up to the left.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1617\" src=\"https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/09\/CanaryPic2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" class=\"\" \/><u class=\"\">Section Four \u2013 Limehouse Basin to Canary Wharf<\/u><br class=\"\" \/>At the top of the brick steps, go straight.\u00a0 At the Limehouse Gallery and Bronze Age shop turn right.\u00a0 Run along the water until you reach the second metal foot-bridge leading to a park.\u00a0 Cross the bridge and run through the park.\u00a0 After the park, you\u2019ll run straight, under an arch and the water will be on your right.\u00a0 Run with the water on your right until you see the long flight of steps next to Royal China \u2013 see picture below.\u00a0 You\u2019re almost there!\u00a0 Only a third of a mile remaining!<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1619\" src=\"https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/09\/CanaryPic4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" steps and straight ahead, through the small park to India Drive and then veer slightly right along Cabot Square.\u00a0 You\u2019re heading for the big skyscraper building in front of you.\u00a0 Stop when you see the sign for the Canary Wharf DLR Station at the \u2018mall\u2019 entrance on the South Colonnade.\u00a0 We\u2019ll meet at the Starbucks inside the building, just right of the entrance.\u00a0 After a much earned coffee, we\u2019ll head to the Canary Wharf Tube station [Jubilee Line] and tube it home to SJW.\u00a0 Congratulations!<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div
