{"id":1406,"date":"2014-11-03T23:49:26","date_gmt":"2014-11-03T23:49:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/2016\/03\/20\/3_beginner_note_3_nov_2014-2\/"},"modified":"2016-03-20T23:51:33","modified_gmt":"2016-03-20T23:51:33","slug":"3_beginner_note_3_nov_2014-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/2014\/11\/03\/3_beginner_note_3_nov_2014-2\/","title":{"rendered":"3 Beginner Note 3 Nov 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-left: 0px;width: 684px\" id=\"body_layer\">\n<div style=\"height: 0px;line-height: 0px\" class=\"bumper\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"height: 1px;line-height: 1px\" class=\"tinyText\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-left: 191px;margin-top: 400px;width: 458px\" class=\"style_SkipStroke_1 shape-with-text flowDefining\">\n<div class=\"text-content style_External_458_771\" style=\"padding: 0px\">\n<div class=\"style_1\">\n<p style=\"padding-top: 0pt\" class=\"paragraph_style\">Hello Beginners!<span style=\"line-height: 14px\" class=\"style_2\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style\">What a great group we have!\u00a0 Thanks to all of you who were able to attend the coffee last week.\u00a0 It was so nice to have that extra time with you and get to know you a little better.<span style=\"line-height: 14px\" class=\"style_2\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style\">You are all doing really well, and we are right on track with our program.\u00a0 It is very exciting for us to watch your progress.\u00a0 Only a few weeks ago you were running 1 minute intervals and walking more than you were running.\u00a0 You are now running 7 minute intervals!\u00a0 This upcoming Thursday you will be running 40 minutes of the 60 minute workout.<span style=\"line-height: 14px\" class=\"style_2\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style\">Over the next few weeks, you will begin to notice a pace differential within the group.\u00a0 This is totally normal, and to be expected.\u00a0 Every one of us has an individual gait\/running style and natural pace.\u00a0 Those with a longer stride or faster cadence should start to migrate to the front of the pack, but please please be sure to run your natural pace.\u00a0 If you are naturally a faster runner, and try to slow down too much, you could end up with knee or hip pain from trying to put on the brakes.\u00a0\u00a0We know some of you want to keep running with your friends, but try to resist the temptation if your paces are different.\u00a0 Do remember however that this is not a contest.\u00a0 So don&#8217;t worry about where you fall in the group.\u00a0\u00a0Just find your own individual pace and stick with it.\u00a0\u00a0Bear in mind that because we are looking for endurance, it may still be a slower pace than you feel comfortable with for a short distance.\u00a0 We know that some of you feel that the pace is too fast while others feel it is too slow\u00a0and want to go faster.\u00a0 It is our job as coaches to keep\u00a0the running at a pace that will ultimately see you through this program.\u00a0 Also, please remember to take the time to stretch before and after the run &#8211; it is very important.<span style=\"line-height: 14px\" class=\"style_2\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style\">Thank you all so much for joining this group.\u00a0 We have really enjoyed getting to know you and are so proud of all of you.\u00a0 We constantly get asked how our &#8216;beginner ladies&#8217;
