{"id":1114,"date":"2012-11-10T12:27:31","date_gmt":"2012-11-10T12:27:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/2016\/02\/15\/10_10_november_note-5\/"},"modified":"2016-02-15T18:51:55","modified_gmt":"2016-02-15T18:51:55","slug":"10_november_note","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/2012\/11\/10\/10_november_note\/","title":{"rendered":"Beginner Note 10 November 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello Runners,<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style\">I missed you all so much while I was away but it sounds like you did a fabulous job of carrying on with your running, continuing to train regularly and supporting and encouraging your fellow runners to keep at it.\u00a0 Thank you so much ladies!\u00a0 You\u2019re the best!<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_1\">Beginner Runner Coffee Morning at Bonnie\u2019s house on Thursday:<br \/>\nThis Thursday, we will finish our run at Bonnie Bandeen\u2019s house (Hamilton Terrace) for coffee.\u00a0 I will bring some more detailed information about our training program, some information about nutrition for performance (basically what you should\/could eat pre\/post\/during running), specific info on hydration, and you will have the opportunity to register for the Bratislava race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_2\"><span class=\"style_2\">Bratislava Race:<\/span><span class=\"style_3\" style=\"line-height: 16px;\"><br \/>\nThe race registration is open and they continue to improve the process.\u00a0 There is now more English on the website and the race director has informed me that they will continue to update the website up to race day.\u00a0 There are now photos of last year\u2019s races on the site which are interesting.\u00a0 It\u2019s nice to get an idea of where we\u2019ll be running.\u00a0 I will bring my computer to Bonnie\u2019s coffee post-run this Thursday so people can register.\u00a0 It\u2019s easier to do if you see somehow else go through the steps.\u00a0 Please remember if you register on your own to put \u201cWRW- Women Running the World\u201d or some version of that under our group name.\u00a0 The director is finding that helpful in identifying our runners.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_1\">Running Group T-shirts:<br \/>\nOur t-shirt order has been placed and we are expecting it to arrive the first week of December.\u00a0 We\u2019ll figure out a way to distribute the shirts as quickly as possible once they are here. <span class=\"style_4\" style=\"line-height: 16px;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_4\">Adding a 3rd weekly run:<br \/>\nIf you are feeling up to it, consider adding a weekend run to your program.\u00a0 The weekend run should be shorter than your Tuesday and Thursday run.\u00a0 Keep the running portion to 30 minutes in any format you desire.\u00a0 For example, you could do 4 x 7:30 minute jogging intervals separated by 2 minute walking breaks, or 3 x 10:00 minute jogging intervals, or 2 x 15:00 minute jogging intervals.\u00a0 The pace should still be slow but can be slightly quicker than our Tuesday and Thursday runs if you want.\u00a0 If you don\u2019t like going any faster, there is no need to push the pace.\u00a0 You will still reap the benefits of this 3rd weekly run.\u00a0 If you are experiencing aches\/pains from the running, I would recommend a weekend brisk, power-walk instead of a run.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_2\"><span class=\"style_2\">Running over Thanksgiving:<\/span><span class=\"style_3\" style=\"line-height: 16px;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"style_3\" style=\"line-height: 16px;\">Many of you will be away from Wed, 21 Nov through Sun, 25 Nov or home with children and not able to run the regular days.\u00a0 Please don\u2019t worry!\u00a0 Our program allows for holiday breaks, illnesses, injuries, travel, etc.\u00a0 You will be just fine &#8211; I promise!\u00a0 If you are completely unable to run, don\u2019t fret.\u00a0 Try to get out for some walks if at all possible.\u00a0 If you are able to continue with your regular routine, Syma will be leading the group on Thursday, 22 November, at 8:15am from Starbucks.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"paragraph paragraph_style_4\">\n<p>This Thursday, we will be doing a loop (see map below) to finish at Bonnie\u2019s house for coffee post-run.<\/p>\n<div class=\"tinyText style_SkipStroke_1 inline-block\" style=\"height: 209px; width: 327px; clear: left; float: left; margin: 6px 6px 6px 0px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none; height: 210px; width: 327px;\" src=\"https:\/\/womenrunningtheworld.com\/beginners\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/02\/droppedImage-14.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<p>In an effort to provide full disclosure (wow, that sounded soooo official!!!), this run will most likely be difficult.\u00a0 I don\u2019t want to discourage you or make you apprehensive but I also don\u2019t want you to have a rough time with the run and think there is something wrong.\u00a0 It should be hard.\u00a0 We\u2019ll be doing 3 x 15 minute jogging intervals and the first long interval will be a lot of non-stop canal running.\u00a0 The last two intervals should be easier for you as there are numerous street crossings.\u00a0 This run combined with the run to Whole Foods this past Thursday (which also had some long non-stop running stretches) should set us up for some major breakthroughs.\u00a0 The problem is that our bodies are trying to figure out where to get fuel for this type of running.\u00a0 For most of you, running is entirely new.\u00a0 Your body hasn\u2019t learned how to fuel itself &#8211; but it will!!!\u00a0 Hang in there and after 2-3 weeks this will seem easier again.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_4\">To summarize our upcoming routes:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"full-width\" style=\"line-height: 16px; padding-left: 10px; text-indent: -10px;\">\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_5\" style=\"text-indent: -10px;\">15 Nov &#8211; Little Venice\/Kilburn loop to finish at Bonnie\u2019s house<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"full-width\" style=\"line-height: 16px; padding-left: 10px; text-indent: -10px;\">\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_5\" style=\"text-indent: -10px;\">22 Nov &#8211; Thanksgiving &#8211; Syma will lead the group on a loop route<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"full-width\" style=\"line-height: 16px; padding-left: 10px; text-indent: -10px;\">\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_5\" style=\"text-indent: -10px;\">29 Nov &#8211; This will be a destination run &#8211; bring your Oyster cards and\/or cash!!<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"full-width\" style=\"line-height: 16px;
